If Samuel Jackson doesn\'t get an academy award for this movie, he should have. He WAS that messed up cop!! This isn\'t the type of movie I normally like, but it was fantastic!
The movie would have been a good suspense/thrill er if the basis was not race...not cool at all. We have enough to deal with and now we have a movie where the neighbor is worrying about what color someone is... I wish my neighbor would try some of Samuel Jackson's tactics...
This movie gives you the impression (if you really think about it) that there is actually another person behind it...but it's obvious it really is him...you get bored but then it gets you again...the ending is predictable though...but i have to say that i did enjoy it and would recommend it to mystery luvers...if you want to see it.
There are always films released this time of year that would have been lost had they came out during the summer. Easily, this would have not made much impact if it had came out back then. That being said, this film does show how good an actor Samuel L. Jackson continues to be. It does, however, lack in a strong character building story. The story seems like it was designed for you to hate Jackson's role. Actually, there was a lot that he presented that any single father would do for his family. Yes, he was taking certain things to the extreme, but if we were suppose to hate him throughout the film, then there should have been more to just that. You really don't feel this way until towards the end. All in all, it was not a bad movie, but there left a lot more to be desired. Again, like Bangkok Dangerous, I would like to give it 2 1/2 stars, but can't so here's 2 stars.
